Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have bored most of you for the last 6 months with my quest to complete the "UK IRONMAN". A 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride....and then a full marathon.
What I havent told anyone yet, is why I have jepordised my body, my work and my marriage to complete such a feat.
My journey is a very personal one which finishes with me choosing Stockdales, a Manchester charity supporting both children & adults with learning & physical disabilities.
I have been blessed to have come from a big (crazy) family, and have gone on to have my own big (not quite as crazy) family.
One big healthy and happy family.
Many people are not so lucky and have children with learning and/or physical difficulites. As a parent I cannot imagine how people cope with such stresses in their life; Stockdales eases this stress and gives everyone a better oppurtunity of reaching their full potential.
Although raising money for Stockdales, I am doing "Ironman Uk" in memory of Mary Nolan, my mum.
This year I turned 40, which means I will have been without my mum for as long as I was with her. My mum, who gave me the strength of character to believe in myself, making me feel that anything is possible. That combined with the work ethic of my "Crazy Irish Family" has brought me to this point; 3 weeks away from the start of the most physical 12 hours of my life.
So as well as raising money & awarness for this fantastic charity, I want to remember my Mum who is always in my thoughts, especially on 6 hour bike rides and long cold swims!!!!
